Oil and pencil painting for the unbreakable powerhouse, Ogoun Feray! Feray Fe! Nago Nation! Ogoun is often called Butterfly, a symbol he also accepts as an offering. His colours red and blue are great symbols of power and dominance. The flag of Haiti is of course red and blue, thanks to the power of Ogoun and the lwa, Haiti won their independence long ago! Ogoun’s sacred weapon is the Machete, a large knife that is traditionally used for cutting unruly landscape, but it can also be used like a sword. Stainless steel Machetes have a bright, beautiful sheen to them, but the carbon steel blades are stronger, withstanding most use and abuse. Ogoun takes his machete during his possessions and he uses the blade to demonstrate that he is really in the person’s body. He can bend and point the blade on the person’s body he has possessed and they will not be hurt in any way! In many of his aspects Ogoun is a soldier, a healer, and a warrior. He is a loving husband of Erzulie Freda and known to be very fond of all women. Ogoun is syncretized with St. George, the holy spirit that slayed the dragon. The classical image of St. George slaying the dragon is used to represent Ogoun in his Petro aspect. Where there’s fire, there’s Ogoun and the Nago Nation, they love fire. Turn to Ogoun Feray to bolster your own inner strength and the inspiration to win all battles in your life!

I followed a comment from another blog to find this treasure of inspiring art and words. Just want to congratulate you, and to say thank you so much for creating and sharing this. Love your style.
Hello! Thank you and Thanx for visiting! I’m looking at starting a machete collection because of Ogoun.
A unique idea, looking forward to seeing it grow!
Yes! I like the viking and latin american style machetes in particular, they have a really hot curve to the blade!
Love your style! Thank you for sharing!
Hi! Thank you! I’m becoming a big knife collector now, I love the shiny steel!
Wow, that is really good.. I used to collect knives & still have an interest. I have to admit, I don’t see too much artwork with knives & I’m glad I found your site.
Hello thank you! Thanx for visiting. Blades are nice to collect and its an art itself! I like Rembrandt polycolor pencils because they feel a bit smoother than Prismacolor pencils. But I had to go with Prismacolor for this drawing because they have a pencil called “Steel” and it is the exact right on colour for metal, I love it.
